A Little Guidance

The dictionary defines it as “the practice of magic, especially black magic; the use of spells.”
Practitioners of Witchcraft know that this definition is partly false. The practice of Witchcraft does not mean one solely practices ‘black magic’. Witches know that for their magic, lightings, workings, to work and come to fruition, they must understand and respect both the light and the dark, because in our world, one cannot exist without the other.
Hi there, my name is Lusilda, and I am the daughter of the Head Witch of our faith of Luzéra. I am a 6th generation hereditary witch with experience in the Craft. My techniques and knowledge are passed down to me by my mother from her aunt, leading all the way back to my 3rd Great Grandmother.
In this entry I will help guide Witches that are new to the craft, understand how to practice witchcraft through my experience and knowledge.
One of the most significant steps when performing any kind of working/lighting, is the intent behind it. What are you doing it for? What do you want the outcome to be? Once you answer these three questions honestly and without any doubt, then you can start selecting your tools for your lighting. I will give you some examples to get you started!
What are you doing the working for?
Is it for Love? What kind of love spell? Most new Witches think you can just light a pink candle, say a few quick rhyming words and then your done, your spell is complete.
No. What you have done was just make a wish without blowing out the candle. A working is exactly that, a working. You must put as much effort into the lighting as you want returned to you when it comes full circle.
So, you know you want to perform a love spell, what kind of love spell? Are you looking to:
- Attract Love
- Help heal your marriage
- Stop a cheating partner
Or would you prefer to go more baneful with your working? (Baneful magic is magic that is done to cause harm or negatively affect someone else.)
- End someone else’s relationship
- Break up a relationship and have one of the individuals choose you instead
Once you can honestly answer what type of spell it is you are trying to do, then you can research and obtain the tools you need to execute the working. Let’s say you’re looking to ‘Attract Love’. This is not a baneful magic because you are not using magic to control someone else’s free will & feelings for you. Now that you have the “What are you doing question answered, you have one more question to go, “What do you want the outcome to be?” This question is extremely important because the way you answer it will determine what tools you will use. Now let’s say the only outcome you want with your attraction love spell, is just to find love.
Perfect. No harm in looking for a little love, now onto the next step!
Now that you know what kind of spell you want to do and the outcome you would like, lets find the tools you’ll need to execute your lighting.
Luzéra Witchcraft has everything you will need for your working, and I’m going to help you learn how to find them! So if you are new to practicing the craft, it’s always a good idea to physically and spiritually place yourself in your working. So this is where a ‘Red Woman/Male Figure Candle’ comes in handy!
The Red Figure Candle comes in both male and female so you can pick a gender that represents you during the working, and its red because, well, Love.
The entirety of this lighting will center around this candle, so make this candle you! Each of our figure candles come with a “Heart Cavity” which is essentially a hole where the heart would be. This hole is used to fill with anything to make it more personal, hair, nail clippings, etc.
Here is a small list of items that you would also need for your working:
- Rosa Roja Rootwork Votive
- Heart Figure Candle
- Eterno Alma Dust
- Honey Rose Conjure Oil
- Rose Petals (Love Me Mix)
- Gypsy Love Bath Salt
All the items listed here, are used in Witchcraft and by Luzéra Witchcraft practitioners to attract love.
Alright, you have the reason, and your tools! Now let’s put them to use!
- Find a space for your working…
Find a space for you to do your lighting. This does not have to be a huge altar decked out in crystals and skulls and incense so don’t worry, you can leave that Amazon cart alone for the time being. Just find an area that you are comfortable in and will not be disturbed for the duration of the lighting. Also make sure it is away from any children or pets to ensure safety. Those pesky cats tend to light their tails and whiskers on fire for some reason.
- Place & Charge Your Candles
Ok, so let’s set up you’re working. You have your Red Figure Candle, which is going to be placed in the center of your altar. Make sure you fill in the heart cavity with your hair or fingernails (or both) to make it more personal. Next place your Heart Figure Candle and Rosa Roja Rootwork Votive on opposite sides of your Figure Candle. You are essentially surrounding yourself with the energy to attract love.
Next, use the Honey Rose Conjure Oil to anoint the candles in front of you.
Anointing: smearing or rubbing with oil, typically as part of a religious ceremony.
What I would suggest would be to grab your Male/Female Figure Candle, pour a small amount of oil onto the candle and rub the oil all around the candle. Using your thoughts and energy to also charge the candle while doing so. Visualize a red and pink aura emanating off you and reaching out of your windows and doors. Once you energize and anoint the candle place it back in between the two other candles. Now anoint the Heart Figure candle the same way you did the Male/Female Figure Candle. You can choose to do the same with the Rootwork Votive as well.
Once your candles are charged and anointed, and your energy and mind are in the right place, begin to light your candles. Starting with the Male/Female Figure Candle, then the Heart Candle, then finally the votive. As you light each candle feel free to say a little chant for each one. You can repeat the chant three times, one for each candle lighting.
When your candles are finally lit, use the Eterno Alma Dust to feed the flame of each candle. You do not have to pour out the entire contents of the vial, just enough to feed the flames and coat the top of the candle. Now you can use the Rose Petals (Love Me Mix) and scatter them around your candles and yourself. Surrounding yourself with more love attraction. Sit for a while and watch as the candles burn. Focus on the energy you are calling out too.
After you have watched the candles burn for some time, its time for the last step, The Gypsy Love Bath Salt. Fill up your bathtub with warm water and pour the bath salt before you get in. You can say the chant three more times if you would like and visualize a pink/red light encompassing you as you relax in your Gypsy Love Bath Salt water. Once you feel like you have meditated enough, proceed to bathe yourself as usual, let the candles burn through.
So, you’ve completed the lighting, but your working is not done. Being a Witch is not a once-a-week thing, it is a lifestyle.
This last part is probably the most important step of your working. You need to have faith. Faith in yourself as a Witch, faith that what you are calling for will come to fruition. It is the most crucial part and the hardest part to perform. Any bit of doubt in your abilities will hinder and weaken the lighting you worked on. You must have faith. We all know witchcraft does not work over night. Doing a love spell one night, does not mean you will find a match on Tinder the very next day. Witchcraft takes time, but once it lands its mark, it is unmistakable and hard to miss.
I really do hope this ‘how to’ guide and introduction for new Witches helps instruct you with your witchcraft. Just apply these steps to any working you wish to perform. Over time you will come into your own and work your own process. Every Witch practices their craft different; it’s just about believing in your own power.
Blessed be,
